DESCRIPTION
The San Lorenzo Market in the center of Florence, just a stone’s throw away from Piazza Duomo, is one of the best known and most popular areas of the city: it stretches from Piazza San Lorenzo, with its great Basilica and the Medici Chapels, all the way to Via dell'Ariento, also occupying all the surrounding streets. The colorful stalls and stores offer all kinds of products: clothing, leather items (bags, jackets and accessories), souvenirs and much more, along with traditional wine merchants’ shops and taverns offering excellent Florentine cuisine at reasonable prices. In the center of this district is the Central Market, undoubtedly the best food market in the city, a huge covered pavilion which was built around 1870 using the most innovative materials of that era (cast iron, iron and glass). Inside the pavilion the numerous aisles, similar to little alleyways, make the market feel like a small town filled with stores offering a vast selection of extremely fresh, reasonably priced food products (meat, fish and vegetables). These two beautiful, recently renovated apartments are located on the third floor of a building situated directly opposite the Central Market, the throbbing heart of the city: bright, colorful and tastefully furnished, with wooden floors, beautiful modern kitchens, efficient bathrooms, air conditioning and TV in all the bedrooms, stereo (USB flash drive and Ipod compatible base), and Wi-fi internet connection. They have a small communal entrance which means that they can also be rented together. From the windows of the apartments it is possible to enjoy atmospheric views of the Medici Chapels, part of the Basilica of San Lorenzo and Giotto’s bell tower.
