DESCRIPTION
Castello di Volognano and its attractive village lie in the Chianti hills just 15 kms from Florence, in a very panoramic position with a 360 degree view of the olive groves and vineyards that are part of the extensive property. In the past the castle has hosted such distinguished people as Giacchino Rossini, Giosuè Carducci and Enrico Fermi. It has undergone a detailed restoration and offers a wonderful atmosphere of times gone by, and is furnished with antique pieces perfectly in harmony with the style of the castello. The outside areas, which are very well looked after, include an italianate garden and a swimming-pool which has the unique feature of being build partly inside the old lemon-house and partly outside. The property is very well equipped and has washing-machine, dishwasher, broadband internet connection, satellite-TV, telephone. Next to the castle is a small village which is partly inhabited, and the large wine-cellars where they produce the wines from the farm and extra-virgin olive oil. They can organize special tastings in a large and attractive room. The nearest town is Pontassieve which is about 2.5 kms away, and other small villages can be reached in just a few minutes by car.
