DESCRIPTION
Casa di Piero is adjacent to Villa il Castello and lies on the ramparts of the walls of the old castello. It has its own, independent entrance and a lovely, enclosed, terraced garden with a panoramic view of the village and of the surrounding hills, with a private swimming-pool imaginatively placed next to the castle walls. Its name is a reference to Piero della Francesca, one of the great fifteenth century italian painters, whose works are for the most part kept at Arezzo and in his home town of Sansepolcro. But Monterchi is home to his most famous fresco "La Madonna del Parto". The house is furnished with family pieces from the end of the 1800s, and is equipped with dishwasher, washing-machine, oven and heating and has nice outside areas furnished for dining in the open air and with a barbecue. Monterchi is a friendly little village with all kinds of shops and with restaurants offering excellent tuscan cuisine. Close to the village you will find tennis courts, a golf course and some riding stables. Arezzo lies about 30 kms away, Florence 110 kms and Assisi 75 kms. Nearest town: Arezzo Distance: 30 km |
