DESCRIPTION
Casa Alvares has been made in an old stone haybarn which, thanks to a careful renovation, has been transformed into a comfortable country house. The house lies within a large estate of 62 hectacres near Gambassi Terme in the florentine chianti hills, in a central position in relation to the most important art cities in Tuscany such as Florence, San Gimignano, Siena and Volterra. The property is partly cultivated with vineyards and olive groves and is partly covered by woods of centuries-old oak trees and holm-oaks and by a lake where roe and fallow deer like to meet. If you walk to the bottom of the valley you can see inlets and little waterfalls formed by streams that run through the estate. Besides Casa Alvares, within the same estate are another two independent houses and seven apartments created inside a large farmhouse. Guests of Casa Alvares have the use of a pleasant and well-tended garden and of a swimming-pool (6x18m) shared with guests of the other apartments. In the old convent going back to the XIIth century a little further up, they have created 6 bedrooms that can be booked on request for arrivals or departures on other days during the week different from Saturday. On request breakfast can be served both in the breakfast room or in the individual houses, daily deliveries of fruit, fresh vegetables and fresh bread can be arranged, also delivery of first courses or cold meals. There are walking routes in the area. Gambassi Terme with all kinds of shops can be reached in just a few minutes and is 1.5 kms away. Florence and Pisa are about 45 minutes away by car (45/50 kms). There are thermal treatments available in the thermal spa in the town, newspapers in several languages on request, internet connection in the reception. Nearest town: Florence Distance: 45 km |
