Sardinia

The beautiful island of Sardinia is the second largest Mediterranean island and lies off the west coast of Italy, just 20 kms south of Corsica.

Like a unique gem, it is easy to understand why Sardinia is known as the Emerald Island. Crystal clear turquoise waters frame the rugged coastline with its white sandy beaches, providing breathtaking views.

In the northern part of Sardinia, lies the famous Costa Smeralda, an area of chic resorts and yacht filled marinas.

Here you will find Santa Teresa di Gallura, a lovely fishing village clearly distinguished by its imposing Aragonese Tower. The natural harbour is cut out of a long fjord and the beautiful long sandy beach of Marmorata leads to crystal clear waters for which Sardinia is famed for.

The island itself has a very good coastal road that winds through sleepy villages nestled between typical Mediterranean vegetation. Occasionally, you will see stone towers, once fortresses, and these, along with numerous important historic villages, are reminiscent of the many invaders who once dominated this beautiful island. Nora, Tharros, Olbia, Porto Torres and Cagliari, the island’s capital, are excellent examples.

There is no doubt that the history and art, traditions and handicrafts, beautiful beaches and coves, and the irresistible clear turquoise sea, make Sardinia a haven for any visitor.
